The Chicken Littles of global warming once ignored C[O.sub.2] emissions and focused on smoke, on particulate matter reflecting sunlight, to create a global-cooling scenario. Now they do the reverse, ignoring the smoke and focusing on the C[O.sub.2], to predict global warming. These same individuals and organizations also warned us of nuclear winter caused by the firestorms that would presumably be caused by nuclear blasts, and, again, ignored the inevitable C[O.sub.2] and focused on the smoke.

These same "environmentalists" who have long opposed nuclear power (THE NEW AMERICAN, April 30) also have opposed new hydroelectric projects and even called for the destruction of existing dams, making us more dependent on the fossil fuels that they claim will cause the ...
