Jun. 17--GOLIAD -- Victims of a real estate scam received more than $23,000 in restitution from Raymond Trent Peterek, who pleaded guilty Friday to one count of theft. Peterek took a $5,000 down payment for work he never returned to complete. He was indicted for felony theft in 2006 in Goliad County.
When the 24th Judicial District Attorney's Office began to prepare for a hearing to revoke Peterek's probation on other charges in DeWitt County, assistant district attorney Larry Hyden discovered names of other victims of Peterek scams.
Hyden passed away suddenly in January 2005.
