NEW YORK -- Fitch Ratings assigns an Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to Connecticut-based People's United Financial, Inc. (Nasdaq: PBCT) of 'BBB' and a short-term IDR of 'F2'. The Rating Outlook is Positive. A complete list of ratings appears at the end of this release.

PBCT is the parent company of People's United Bank (formerly People's Bank) (IDR of 'BBB' on Positive Outlook by Fitch) and was formed subsequent to the completion of the second-stage conversion of the mutual holding company on April 16, 2007.
