* The longest cake allegedly on record and uniforms of the past were among party highlights
Thousands of "girls" ranging in age from 4 to 74 gathered at Tingley Coliseum on Sunday to celebrate the 85th birthday of the Girl Scouts.
Uniforms, from the royal blue smocks of today's Daisy Scouts, to the khaki safari-like outfits of yesteryear, were everywhere. At the center of it all was an 85-yard-long cake.
The creation, formed by 236 cakes, each one from a troop in the region, reached almost to the doors on both sides of the coliseum. About 15 volunteers, Girl Scouts…
