On April 21, Damon Wells, a concealed-carry holder from Mount Pleasant, Ohio, went to the store across the street from his house to get some popcorn and cigarettes. As he returned home, two boys, Arthur Buford and an unidentified accomplice, zipped into his yard and pulled a gun to rob him. He tried to talk them out of it, until one yelled, "[Expletive] that," according to the Plain Dealer.
Wells decided it was a life-and-death situation, pulled his gun, and fired three shots. Both boys fled, but Buford died a short distance away. At 15 years old, Buford was a repeat felon who was on parole for robbery.
If you guessed that Wells became a neighborhood hero, guess again. Cleveland's anti-gun Mayor Frank Jackson instead called Buford a "victim," and he filed a lawsuit with taxpayers' money to sue the state of Ohio "over its decision to make all gun laws in the state uniform," reported the Buckeye Firearms Association.
