When a family member shouted a warning that armed intruders were in the house, two other family members armed themselves and confronted the intruders. Of the father and son duo, Ralph Schulenburg, Sr. and Ralph, Jr., who were intending to protect their loved ones, the father armed himself with a wood four-by-four and the son armed himself with a Mauser rifle. It was the Mauser that made the difference.
