I refer to the article "Putin's New Soviet Economy" in THE NEW AMERICAN'S January 22 issue. This whole issue about Russia I found most interesting and enlightening. I wish all of America would read it.
When I read that in 1995 Russia's private banks lent the treasury the money that the Yeltsin machine required for reelection and in return received collateral shares in Russia's best state enterprises, it made me wonder: how come my former representative, Charles H. Taylor, opened a bank in Russia? What was the incentive for him to do so? Did he get shares in Russia's state enterprises? Or ...
