INDIA'S INTERGLOBE LAUNCHES NEW AIRLINE, ORDERS 100 A-320 PLANES
LE BOURGET (FRANCE) - Seeking to tap India's growing aviation market, InterGlobe Enterprises has announced plans to launch a domestic airline, IndiGo. The leading travel and tourism conglomerate has also placed firm orders with Airbus for 100 A-320 aircraft worth over US$6 billion. Airbus said it had received a letter of intent for the purchase of 100 A320 planes from IndiGo, which is yet to launch its operations in India as a low-fare carrier. Earlier this week leading Indian carrier Jet Airways inked a deal to buy ten Airbus and 20 Boeing planes.
