Vicon announced new MX-F40 and MX-F20 optical cameras, which include the world's first camera sensors designed specifically for motion capture. The shuttered Vicon Vegas sensors enable performance data to be captured at higher speeds than with previous sensors.
The new cameras are part of the MX platform from Vicon and will replace Vicon's MX40+, MX20+, and MX13+ cameras; MX3+ cameras will still be available as the company's value precision solution.
The F40 camera ("F" standing for Faster Full Frame) is capable of capturing 370 fps at four million pixels, while the F20 camera captures up to 500 fps at two million pixel resolutions. Improvements in the camera's marker throughput capacity allows for the capture of more subjects per trial or take. In addition, the Vicon Vegas sensor offers a true "freeze-frame" shutter, so the F-series cameras are tolerant of on-set or laboratory ambient light.
