We're kind of getting tired of being called 'eco' now," says Alessandro DeVito. "But it's great that it's getting to the point where sustainable clothing is more acceptable, more than just fringe." DeVito and his design partner, Lika Volkova, can take some of the credit for that. For a little more than a year, the two, who won the 2007 Ecco Domani award, have been fashioning their collections out of "green" fabrics-made of soy, organic cotton, and wild silk-under the name SANS. But you won't see any of the more stereotypical homespun-looking peasant tops or hippie-dippy dresses in their line.
