Jun. 10--LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Keanon Simon stood in the dugout Saturday, daring -- despite his rugged Super Regional slump -- to proclaim himself fit to play 12th-inning hero.
"He actually said, 'If I get up, I'm going to win this game for us,'" Oklahoma State's Corey Brown recalled.
Simon got to the plate, after Rebel Ridling somehow directed a looping two-out hit off his fists just beyond the grasp of Louisville second baseman Logan Johnson.
And then Simon delivered, grounding a two-strike pitch into right field to score Tyler Mach with the go-ahead run, somehow making the Cowboys a 3-2 winner and forcing a deciding Game 3 in the series today.
