National Archives goes wiki
The National Archives has launched a wiki-based resource to help people interact with its huge body of material, which spans 900 years from Domesday Book to the present day.
Your Archives allows anybody to share their tips about searching the National Archives content, to submit articles related to historical records or even to upload transcriptions of documents which previously might have been listed only by name.
The service employs technology pioneered by online encyclopaedia Wikipedia, allowing users to create an account and contribute to it.
Ruth Selman, knowledge and information manager at the National Archive, said the new service was designed to be "complementary" to the organisation's existing material.
