State-owned Mighty River Power of New Zealand announced yesterday it would not proceed with seeking consents to re-commission the Marsden B Power Station in Ruakaka using coal.
After consents for the plant were granted by the Whangarei District and Northland Regional councils, Greenpeace, the Bream Bay Action Group, Ruakaka residents J. and R. Keith, Urquharts Bay Residents Association and Wiri Oil Services filed appeals with New Zealand's Environment Court.
