Jun. 7--Public Law 221 data released Wednesday by the Indiana Department of Education shows status changes for the Monroe County Community School Corp. and the Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corp., but no schools in the county placed in the lowest category.

Four MCCSC schools and two R-BB schools changed in status -- with Templeton Elementary the only one improving in status. Edgewood Intermediate School, Edgewood Junior High School, Tri-North Middle School, Fairview Elementary School and Clear Creek Elementary School all dropped in status.

PL221 was passed in 1999 and, like the No Child Left Behind Act, it categorizes schools based on test data. But, unlike No Child Left Behind, it tracks the ISTEP progress of the same groups of students over time, not students in particular…
