Google searches the universe

Google became the dominant leader in search by creating a decent, easy-to-use product that delivers better results than the competition and is used almost daily by a great many web users. Yet Google has resisted the temptation to rest on its laurels, and has been continually active in its efforts to corner every kind of online information provision, from news to books, maps, blogs, images and even scholarly search.
But despite its range and its popularity, Google is not perfect. For example, it can only signpost the different content formats of news, books, images and so on at the top of the page. Also, it often fails to show different kinds of results even when they might be useful, as on their own they don't necessarily justify being added to the top of the rankings. A Google search may therefore miss out useful content by presenting the best of the different formats together.
