AMY WINEHOUSE BACK TO BLACK Universal
Feeling bad never sounded as good as it does on Amy Winehouse's Brit blockbuster Back to Black. The British beehive-sporting bad girl is known for taking the stage with a drink in one hand, fag in the other, opening her mouth and blowing the audience away. Back to Black sounds like someone took the best of the '60s girl bands and classic R&B artists like Ruth Brown, threw them into a blender and added a heavy dose of lyrical wit.
On "Tears Dry On Their Own," with its rift lifted from Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell's "River Deep, Mountain High," Winehouse laments that "I'll be some next man's other woman soon."
