JISC Depot offers repository for all

UK researchers and academics without an institutional repository can now deposit and share their respective bodies of work at the Depot, a JISC-funded repository.
The Depot is free to both searchers and academics adding content. The setup and operation of the initiative will cost around [pounds sterling]500,000 over the next three years.
Access and use of any information will be subject to the same conventions that govern open access (OA) research. The content will be held at the Depot's home base at the Edina service, which is hosted by the University of Edinburgh.
The need for institutional repositories has gained recognition from a recent EC-commissioned study, which concluded they were vital to a research infrastructure. The study recommended setting up scholarly information centres to make information more visible and accessible throughout the UK.
