CANBERRA, June 1 Asia Pulse - The Climate Institute has renewed its call for Prime Minister John Howard not to delay action against climate change despite the recommendations of a new report.
The Australian newspaper reported today the prime minister's emissions trading task force had recommended Australia consider nuclear power and the creation of a carbon trading scheme.
The task force report, which is yet to be released, warns against prematurely introducing an emissions trading scheme before 2012, the newspaper said.
But Climate Institute chief executive John Connor said the problem could not wait five years to be addressed.
"This report is one of delay. Climate change isn't waiting and we shouldn't be either," told AAP.
