TAIPEI, June 1 Asia Pulse - Premier Chang Chun-hsiung will assure lawmakers in his first administrative report to the legislature of the government's determination to complete negotiations with China over opening to Chinese tourists and inauguration of regular charter flights across the Taiwan Strait as early as possible, sources said Thursday.
Chang is scheduled to brief lawmakers on his Cabinet's work agenda and take questions from them Friday for the first time since he assumed premiership May 21. The written version of his report was referred to the Legislative Yuan Thursday.
According to the written report, Premier Chang said the country is facing certain difficult problems that require patience, wisdom and inter-party cooperation to resolve.
Chang said he will work hard to consult with opposition parties in order to achieve a breakthrough to present political deadlock and end partisan infighting with full sincerity.
