SEOUL, June 1 Asia Pulse - The South Korean economy expanded 0.9 per cent in the first quarter from three months earlier on strong exports and brisk corporate capital spending, the central bank said Friday.
On an on-year basis, the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 4 per cent in the January-March period, the Bank of Korea said in a preliminary report. The quarterly and annual growth rates were unchanged from the bank's advance estimates unveiled on April 25.
GDP, the broadest measure of an economy's performance, is the total value of goods and services produced within the economy in a given period.
