I appreciated your report on carbon credits (January, Up Front). However, I think your conclusion was misleading. "CR's take" implied that buying carbon credits was an alternative to purchasing energy-efficient appliances and high-mpg vehicles. My family has purchased only Energy Star-rated appliances and we bought a Toyota hybrid Prius. We use compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
