You get a call from somebody who says he's an officer of the court. You never showed up for jury duty, he announces. Now there's a warrant for your arrest.
When you say you never received a notice, the "officer" offers to straighten out the mess. All he needs is your birthdate and Social Security number. Or he can clear up the fine that's due if you give him your credit-card number.
Either way, hang up immediately because you've just encountered another identity-theft ploy. With enough information, a scammer can easily tap into your bank ...
