May 25--BLUFF CITY -- Bluff City could become the site of Sullivan County's first few miles of the Overmountain Victory Trail.

City leaders and residents gathered Thursday to learn about the historic trail, which will eventually cross through Bluff City on its route from Abingdon to Kings Mountain, S.C.

The city's park pavilion already features a marker lauding the Overmountain Men, making it an easy place to start, said Paul Carson, National Park Service superintendent of the trail.

"There's a possibility we'll be able to do some work here in Bluff City within the next few months," he said.
