2006 was an extremely busy year for the Airforwarders Association. On Capitol Hill, we continued to face various pieces of legislation that posed a threat not only to the forwarding industry but to the flow of the American economy as well. Efforts successfully prevented 100 percent inspection legislation as no less than five amendments in the House of Representatives this year were defeated. Air-cargo amendments were prevented from being attached in the House and Senate to the SAFE Port Act.
