SIDOARJO, May 1 Asia Pulse - Residents of the Tanggulangin Anggun Sejahtera I housing complex whose properties have been inundated by mud flowing from the Lapindo Brantas drilling operations in Sidoarjo, East Java, have finally agreed to accept the government's compensation payment scheme.
The residents who initially demanded 100 per cent payment of the compensation all at once finally agreed to accept an initial 20 per cent payment of the compensation and another 80 per cent a year later in April 2008 on the condition that they will be involved in the process of verification, monitoring and realization of the disbursement of the compensation funds.
