SYDNEY, May 1 Asia Pulse - The Australian share market has started the month flat following an easing on Wall Street overnight and steady commodity prices in London, with analysts predicting a quiet day of "consolidation".
At 1015 AEST, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index inched 3.5 points higher at 6169.5, while the all ordinaries rose just one point to 6159.3.
On the Sydney Futures Exchange, the June share price index contract gained 12 points to 6186 on a volume of 6,154 contracts.
US stocks closed lower on Monday as investors locked in profits at the end of Wall Street's strongest month in three years.
