Don't count the Red Hook Container Terminal out yet. The beleaguered Brooklyn container and breakbulk terminal, which the last two mayors and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey have been trying to shut down, will continue to operate for some time to come.

The 80-acre terminal, leased by American Stevedoring International, has mustered community and political support for its continued operation, despite efforts to convert the terminal's waterfront site to other uses.
