Maersk Revamps Asia-Europe Service: Maersk Line will deploy its largest ships in its Asia-Europe network, which will be revised in April with more direct calls and faster transit times. The carrier will deploy the 10,000-TEU-plus Emma Maersk, the world's biggest container vessel, and its sister ships in the PS-class in the AE7 service, which connects East and South China to its transshipment hub in Algeciras, Spain, and the Northern European markets. Maersk said the larger vessels on the trade would boost its capacity by 13 percent to meet expected market growth of 15 percent on the westbound trade. The expansion will take place soon after a sharp reduction in capacity that the carrier previously announced for the month around the Chinese New Year, which starts Jan. 29. Maersk said the …
