I'm currently on a family aquatics task force for the city of Greenwood, Ind., (City of Pride & Progress). After reviewing your article, "Secrets to Their Success" (Oct. 2004), I can't agree more with you.

Our biggest problem is educating the public on the benefits of a new aquatics facility. Our current pool is approximately 46 years old and falling into disrepair. It doesn't meet the city's growing needs and the city loses approximately $80,000 per year on it.

Our task force spent the last two years doing the following:

* Studying our current pool.

* Putting together and implementing a community survey (84 percent are in favor

of a new aquatics facility).

* Studying aquatics trends.
