What is power? For the better part of two months, we've been pondering that question here at Aquatics International. The result is what we call The Power 25--a list of the most influential people in the world of aquatics today.

Picking just 25 individuals from the entire industry has been an exhausting, illuminating process. First we decided to split the list into five categories: leaders, executives, icons, athletes and people on the move. Five people from each category had to be chosen.

In culling our group, we looked at past lists, accomplishments, awards, the usual considerations.

But in the end, it came down to one key question: Did the person have influence? In other words, did he or she have some kind of lasting impact on the field of aquatics?

It's an important distinction to make, because while there are many powerful people in the industry, not all of them have used that power ...
