2006 Was Great ...

As results for 2006 are emerging, it is clear that most of us had a pretty good year. Overall, the world PCB business grew at some 12 percent to reach an estimate total of nearly USD 48 billion.
It is no surprise to see that over half of this figure was from Asia (excluding Japan). Accounting for 56 percent of the world's production value, Asia is well established as the dominant manufacturing region. Asia has in fact become the "Factory of the World," and not just for PCBs! China contributed nearly half of the Asian total PCB production--achieving 25 percent of the overall world figures--and for the first time has overtaken Japan as the number one PCB-producing country. Taking volume over value reemphasises Asia's position in contributing a massive 77 percent of the total world PCB production.
Given that the growth powerhouse has been mobile phone, portable computers, and sophisticated consumer devices, it can be no surprise …
