Apr. 7--A Nipomo High School graduate who died this week after a car crash in Kern County was a solid student who hoped to become a teacher, her high school counselor said Friday. Chelsea Holston of Arroyo Grande died Tuesday in a Bakersfield hospital after the March 30 wreck on Highway 43. Her passenger in the car, 17-year-old Nipomo High senior Amber Davenport, is hospitalized at Kern Medical Center in critical condition. Davenport, who lives in Grover Beach, is expected to recover.

Nipomo High counselor Larry Hoekman said the friends met while competing together on the school's swim team. Holston, 18, had graduated early,…
