Two-lane McQueen Smith Road clogs east side; drivers want it widened.

Apr. 4--PRATTVILLE -- On weekday afternoons, stretches of McQueen Smith Road look more like a parking lot than a major artery for east Prattville.

About 10 years ago, McQueen Smith north of Cobbs Ford Road was widened to five lanes. McQueen Smith is still two lanes south of the intersection, bisecting some of the fastest growing areas in town.

"You just can't get out and merge with traffic, not from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.," said "Red" Williams, who was shopping recently at the Sears store. "I try not to come out this way in the afternoon. It's just too aggravating."
