NEW DELHI, April 2 Asia Pulse - Members of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) would spend around Rs 1 billion (US$23 million) in setting up 100 anti-retroviral treatment (ART) centres throughout the country for free treatment of HIV/AIDS patients.
"We are looking at setting up at least 100 ART centres in India and we will convince our members to come forward to contribute to the national mission for AIDS control in the country," CII Chief Mentor Tarun Das said.
Four such centres have already been established at Wadi in Karnataka, Vellore in Tamil Nadu in collaboration with Catholic Medical College by cement major ACC and at Chandrapur and Mumbai in Maharashtra by Ballarpur Industries and the Godrej Group respectively.
