SEOUL, April 2 Asia Pulse - South Korea's small tech firm Semi-Materials Co. said sunday it had filed a damage suit against a U.S. chip material-making giant for its alleged breach of supply contracts.
Semi-Materials said it filed the suit with the U.S. District Court in St. Louis in September 2006, claiming that MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. unilaterally scrapped deals to supply silicon ingot, a key material for semiconductors, inflicting damage to its business.
MEMC Electronics is one of the world's leading suppliers of semiconductor materials. Semi-Materials is a small-sized chip material processor established in 2000 with annual sales reaching 20 billion won (US$21.2 million) last year.
