Sizing up screens, stabilizers, and more

Spirits aren't the only things soaring this season: So is camera resolution. Consumer-priced SLRs have moved into 10-megapixel territory, joined by several point-and-shoots. Numerous other lines include new models with resolution that has been bumped by 1 to 2 megapixels over their predecessors'. Once gee-whiz features are also proliferating on consumer-level cameras.

Here's our buying advice on those and other trends this season:
