Collaborators in one way or another for 21 years, the duo behind R&Y Augousti cannot help finishing each other's sentences. "You find your soul mate, and it is a formula that works. . . . " says Yiouri Augousti. " . . . And that you must work with," adds his wife and business partner, Ria.
After meeting at design school in London, Greek-born Yiouri and Philippine-born Ria married in 1990. Soon after, they began designing furniture, which evolved into an entire home collection. A visit to Ria's parents in the Philippines sparked the foray from furniture to handbags. "We were seeing all these lovely exotic skins," says Yiouri. "Whether it was snakeskin or stingray, we started getting excited about it."
