A WETHERBY chef has got through to the final of a top UK culinary competition - the prestigious Roux Scholarship.

Matthew Wilkinson, 23, a senior chef de partie at Rudding Park, beat of hundreds of other young hopefuls to be one of just six chefs to win a place in the national final next month.

He will have his food dishes scrutinised by the likes of celebrity chefs, Brian Turner, Charles Campion and Gary Rhodes when he attends the London final at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde hotel.
