Mar. 8--The Central Regional Board of Education on Wednesday introduced its $32.9 million 2007-08 budget, which calls for a tax levy of $24,275,867, a debt service of $1,128,760, and tax increases in two out of the five towns that make up the district.

Last year, the tax levy totaled $23,052,945, and the debt service was $1,124,267, Board of Education Secretary Craig A. Lorentzen said.

"Our overall budget is increasing 1.7 percent on the expenditure side," he said.

The budget now goes to the Ocean County Superintendent of Schools for review, and the board will schedule a public hearing on a date to be determined…
