The Freight Transport Association (FTA) has called on London Mayor Ken Livingstone to exempt trucks from being charged when the Congestion Charging Zone is extended later this month. However, it has welcomed the earlier ending of the charging period at 6.00pm on weekdays.
Once the area is extended on 19 February, it will include Kensington and Chelsea, but the FTA argues that trucks are essential vehicles and that there is no alternative for businesses having goods delivered by road.
