Last November, nine-year-old Jimmy Stevens was riding with his mother and his little brother and sister on a highway in Cleburne, Texas, when his mother, Latisha, passed out at the wheel. It was later determined that Mrs. Stevens had suffered a panic attack.
Young Jimmy, however, did not panic. From watching his mother drive the car, Jimmy had a pretty good idea about how to operate it. He climbed onto his mother's lap, pulled the car over to the side of the road, barely reached the brake pedal and managed to stop the car, and put it in park.
Jimmy then called 911 on his mom's cellphone. His calmness in view of his age and the seriousness of the situation was amazing. According to ABC News, the conversation with the 911 operator went like this:
