Feb. 28--A popular nightclub will close its doors after changes in clientele and a recent explosion of violence in a quiet corner of east Montgomery.

Celebrations owner Barry Barr said he will close the club April 1, when his lease expires, after keeping it open 14 years.

"I'm at my wit's end about it," Barr said. "I have done everything humanly possible to keep a safe environment out there. What am I supposed to do?"

Barr said the violence stretches back three years, though a double-shooting Sunday morning was the first incident of gun violence at the club since late November.
