I just wanted to offer some brief comments regarding the article by William F. Jasper ("Passing of President Pinochet," January 8) which acknowledges the passing of Pinochet.

Generally, I agree with Jasper and the John Birch Society most of the time. But I think any apology for Pinochet is both unproductive and a waste of time. I think Allende was removed, and Pinochet installed, because that was what Nixon and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) wanted.
