TOKYO, March 1 Asia Pulse - NTN Corp. (TSE:6472) has developed a device that gives surgeons a numerical reading of the forces they are applying when inserting a wire into a patient to treat cerebral aneurysms.
Endovascular therapy for cerebral aneurysms involves placing a coil around the aneurysm to prevent it from rupturing. To deliver this coil to the site of the aneurysm, a catheter is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin, and the surgeon then threads the wire to the brain while watching images captured with a computerized tomography, or CT, scanner.
