BANGALORE, March 1 Asia Pulse - The EMS (electronics manufacturing services) Global Alliance on Wednesday said it is targeting a combined sales of US $1 billion by 2009 as it bets big on India as a centralised design hub.
The EMS Alliance, which currently has sales of US$600 million growing from US$180 million four years ago, held its annual meet here on Wednesday to finalise its strategy for the year ahead.
Representatives of the Alliance from Brazil (Teikon), the US (SMC), Sweden (NOTE), China (Radiance) and India (Rangsons Electonics) participated in the meet.
Indian EMS industry is projected to be US$2 billion by 2009, Alliance officials said adding India will be a major manufacturing as well as a customer base in the future.
