HONG KONG (XFN-ASIA) - Standard Chartered Plc said its Hong Kong operations posted net profit of 6.03 bln hkd in 2006, up 32.82 pct from 4.54 bln hkd a year earlier.

Total interest income rose to 18.8 bln hkd from 12.3 bln hkd a year earlier, while net interest income stood at 8.8 bln hkd, up from 7.3 bln hkd.

Total operating income was up 15.6 pct year-on-year at 12.6 bln hkd.
