Feb. 26--I just heard that a World War I veteran died. How many World War I veterans are left in the world? -- Eric Hutton, Marion The number's quite small -- much smaller than I would have guessed. According to the recent obituary of Antonio Pierro, the 110-year-old last World War I veteran in Massachusetts, only six remain in the United States. They are Lloyd Brown, 105, of Charlotte Hall, Md.; Frank Woodruff Buckles, 105, of Charles Town, W.Va.; J. Russell Coffey, 108, of North Baltimore, Ohio; Orin Manfred Peterson, 106, of Spokane, Wash.; Howard Verne Ramsey, 108, of Oregon; and Charlotte Winters, 109, of Maryland. Worldwide, fewer …
