Traffic was halted in both directions on Minskaya Ulitsa in western Moscow on Sunday when a 120-square-meter sinkhole appeared in the roadway, Interfax reported.

A source at City Hall told Interfax that the sinkhole, which was up to 50 centimeters deep, would be repaired within 24 hours. "We're getting together the machinery and macadam to fill it," the source said.

No one was injured as a result of the sinkhole, which appeared just before noon Sunday, Yevgeny Bobylev, spokesman for the Moscow branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry, told Interfax.
