With this issue of Mortgage Servicing News we are trying something new for the Mortgage Group: a print/online hybrid publication. So this initial edition of Managing REO you are seeing as part of your monthly digest of servicing news (and what is REO but servicing gone bad?) is allied to an online publication (different than the e-MSN newsletter you get by e-mail) you can check out at www.managingreo.com.

The publishing world today is approaching a tipping point, where online ventures are beginning to approach traditional print publications in importance and public interest. Managing REO is probably the most exciting of our online ventures, since the e-book format allows exciting interactive features like audio and video that we are sure will become standard in years to come.

And while the future is almost here, right now publishing is in a transition phase between a technology that dates back 500 years and one that dates back to the day before yesterday. Both print and online publishing is viable right now. And while the next decade will tell the tale as to how much print will survive and how much will go online (books will almost certainly continue to be viable in print, for instance), for now it makes sense to pursue both arenas.
