Sex assault: Police appeal POLICE investigating an alleged sexual assault at the weekend have renewed their appeal for witnesses. Detectives yesterday confirmed that a major inquiry launched in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, was into an alleged sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman. The victim had been walking through the Burn Lane area of town after a night out, between 2am and 4am on Sunday, when she was attacked by a man. Anyone who was in the area between the town centre and Burn Lane early on Sunday is urged to contact Durham Constabulary on 0845-60-60365, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111. …
